In my early 20s I took over the care and feeding of my father’s 1960s Miranda and learned to see people with a more curious eye, to notice light and shadows, and to stop for sunsets, sunrises, and everything in between. I was hooked.
While I started with snowcapped, Scottish mountains and snapshots of university life, I’m now drawn to natural light photography and portraiture. I love family and individual sessions - my goal is to capture you and all your strength and beauty and vibrancy. I want to show the world the vividness -- aliveness of people of all stripes. The resulting picture should tell a story people love while provoking a feeling.
When I’m not shooting portraits, I’m taking equine-related photos or working on commercial shoots. My commercial clients expect (and receive) images that show their spark and tell their business's story, creating a direct line between their passion and their clients.
Contact me about travel, landscape, and nature prints available for purchase, too.

Our shoots with Katja are at once both professional and relaxed; her calm demeanor and acute knowledge of our often nuanced campaign goals clearly show themselves in her vibrant work. Both our national campaigns and smaller, local clients alike receive the same level of attention to detail and result in creative, relatable, and modern imagery and campaigns for digital publishing and social platforms that are appreciated by clients and audiences alike, and we always look forward to working with her on projects of any size.

Katja has an incredible eye for detail and her images evoke an emotional response, whether it's of nature, people, or product flat lays. I love how Katja can be entrusted to get great images with little direction or is totally open to executing your vision. You can't go wrong.

I recently bought 6 prints from Katja. My only regret is that I don’t have more available wall space!  It was very hard to limit it to 6 but the shelf had already been hung and frames purchased.  Her selection of photos are amazing and unique. We fell in love with predominantly European themed pictures, but there are so many options for any space. The larger prints on the gallery paper are beautiful. The paper really makes the pictures pop and is so professional. I will be doing some rearranging so I can make room for more prints. Thanks for helping me with my project, Katja. I love the way you capture things in a picture. No more Ikea art for this girl.
